children and grandchildren. My passions have been gardening, running, sewing and most recently quilting. Having been raised a farm girl I have helped out with many of the farm duties in the fields and in the office. Our 8 grandchildren bring us joy as we spend time with them, watching them grow and they bless us with promises for the future.
Through the years we have learned to trust in God to provide for us through the lean years and give us wisdom in the prosperous years and to put Him first in all we do.
As we approach retirement, and turn the reins over to the boys, it excites us to see the new ideas they are implementing to make the land more sustainable and productive for the 5th generation of Dykshoorns to farm this beautiful land.

Before Ron and I met, Ron was already farming, and I was employed as a Medical Lab Technologist in Lethbridge. We met through mutual friends, married February 9, 1980 and started farming together on the family farm with Ron's parents, Dick and Dena Dykshoorn. We were the 3rd generation of Dykshoorns on the Marinus Dykshoorn homestead of 1907.
Together we raised our family of 5 children: Shellie, Chet, Beckie, Kristy and Sam. Through expansion, Chet and Sam and their families have become the 4th generation of Dykshoorns farming this land.
Shellie, her husband, Jerry Wolverton and 3 children, Jaida, Kayleigh and Coehn reside in Edmonton. Shellie and Jerry work together in the development, building, and marketing of Jerry’s password keeper called “Stash”. Beckie is married to Justin Elway and they ranch near Polson, Montana and have one daughter Noah. Kristy and her husband Mark Johnson live in Edmonton. Kristy is a Dr. of Counselling Psychology and Mark is a helicopter pilot.
Always active in our children's lives we followed them and coached them in their many athletic endeavours, 4H and church related functions.
Over the years Ron has loved riding his horses and still does to this day, competing in Team Roping, using them to move and round up cattle and developing that passion in his

Update:  Unfortunately Ron passed away Dec 22, 2023. He was such an instumental part of our operation and we miss him dearly.  To read the blog with his eulogy, and a link to his celebration of life click HERE

Ron & Lorinda

Elizabeth. She is a content little girl, and loves to laugh at her crazy siblings. She is the perfect piece to complete our family. We also have 2 dogs at home whom we love like crazy. Lacey is our border collie who loves the kids and helps Chet with the cows, and Paisley is a Miniature Schnauzer whos only job is to be cute and a good companion.

We feel so blessed to be able to live out our dreams, and do what we love. Our hope is that one, or all of our children are passionate about farming and ranching, and will continue on the family business.

Chet is the second child, and first son of Ron and Lorinda. He grew up on the "home place" and wanted to farm and ranch for as long as he can remember. I grew up in British Columbia, and spent every possible moment at my Grannie's Farm. I always loved farm life, and hoped to one day marry a cowboy.

Chet attended Briercrest Bible College for 1 year, and then the University of Saskatchewan where he graduated with a Diploma in Ag Business. I also attended Briercrest, and it was here Chet and I were introduced. We dated for 2 years, and were married in the Winter of 2004.

In 2008 we welcomed our first daughter Maddyson. She is a joy filled, and confident young lady who enjoys riding her horse "Leo" and many other extracurricular activities such as: 4H, Swimming, and Basketball, and GEMS at the church. In 2011 our son Lucas joined the family. He is a ball of energy, and loves to laugh. He plays hockey, baseball, attends Cadets at the church, loves to ride his horse, and can't wait until he is old enough to join his sister in 4-H. In 2018 we completed our family with our daughter

UPDATE: Sam and Michelle added Jaden to their family in December 2019, and Jax December of 2022.
Jaden is a true farm boy who loves to go out and help Sam and Uncle Chet.  He is rarely seen without his western shirt, jean, cowboy book and gloves.  Jaden started hockey this fall and came off the ice from his first game asking "why didn't anyone tell me it was this fun."
Jax hasn't taken to the farming quite like Jaden yet, but he does love to ride in the tractors and on their pony Duke.  He is a little blue eyed, blonde haired cutie, and we love the smiles he brings.   ~ Tania

Sam is the youngest child of Ron and Lorinda. Like Chet, Sam was raised on the home place where his passion for farming began. Sam attended Lethbridge College in 2007. He started in the Business Program, and later transferred into the Ag Program where he received his Ag Tech Diploma.

Sam and I met while both attending Lethbridge College. I was enrolled in the Bachelor of Nursing Program and graduated from the University of Lethbridge in 2012. I began my nursing career on the Pediatric Unit at Chinook Regional Hospital. In 2017, I accepted a job at Lethbridge College, and currently work casually there. I was born and raised in Lethbridge. I had not spent much time on a farm until I met Sam. Lets say I have learned a lot in the last 11 years, and have really grown to love what farm and ranch life has to offer.

Sam and I got married in 2013, and we have spent a lot of time traveling together.
